The Girls Club is designed to engage students in socially appropriate, peer-aged conversations while using their Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) devices. The visit to Cheveux Salon and Day Spa gave students the chance to practice those skills in a real community setting, supporting IEP goals and objectives while building confidence, independence, and meaningful peer connections.

Students enjoyed manicures, hair styling, makeup, and other special treatments during a day that put smiles on everyone's faces. Students were also excited to use their AAC devices to communicate throughout the outing, making the experience as educational as it was enjoyable.

Harford Academy is grateful to Cheveux Salon and Day Spa for their generosity and hospitality. The salon team created a warm and inclusive environment where students felt celebrated every step of the way. Community partnerships like this make it possible for Harford Academy students to access enriching, real-world experiences that support their growth as communicators, as learners, and as young people.
